The festival
By now, IMPRO is Europe’s biggest festival for impro theatre. Each March since 2001, it brings impro artists from all over the world together, following the Gorillas‘ invitation to test new impro formats as well as perform tried and tested formats at high international level, and celebrate a festival of improvised theatre across several Berlin theatre stages. Here, the range of shows extends from an improvised radio play to a musical to theatre created in the moment in a bus or a workshop.
Regular locations, apart from the Gorillas‘ home ground the Ratibor, are the English Theatre Berlin | IPAC and the Mehringhoftheater – plus various other locations. The BIF Week and the BIF Days have been offering a broad range of workshops for impro amateurs as well as professionals for many years now.
The Berlin impro festival doesn’t receive any structural funding, it is entirely financed through ticket sales and the high-level performances are only possible because the participating players deliver their artistic quality pro bono. Our media partners are radio eins and impro-news.de.
